Oh boy, boy, [attr="class","skylar"] Today marked a new beginning, as well as a new year for Skylar. She was 22 today, and it was her first day arriving in Querencia. She took a deep breath as she watched the dock draw near from the side of the ship. All right... she could do this.
As the ship docked, she made her way down the ramp and onto the pier. She was officially in a new region now, and immediately after getting out of the bulk of the crowd she released her Vaporeon. "Look, Rain! We made it!" she exclaimed. The Vaporeon cried out in excitement. "What do you think? Wanna look around?" Rain nodded, and the two took off to explore the docks.
As they walked around, Skylar let herself wonder: would she be able to find Amaya in all this? Surely both being Rangers would help. But then another thought, not for the first time: what if she was lied to? What if Amaya wasn't here at all? She shook her head to clear it. Worst case scenario, she was going to have an adventure. There was no downside, right?

► At the far end of the shipping docks, a pitful sound made it's way to be heard above the crowd. It remained faint, fighting against the overpowering sounds of humans and pokemon. Footfalls against the old wooden dock only furthered to drown out the pokemon's cries. From the edge of the dock one would see a darkened circle. A pokemon lurking just below the surface. Why it hadn't broken it remained a mystery and because of that nearly everyone ignored it. Not out of neglect but believing the pokemon below belonged to someone and simply was calling for their trainer. The lurking pokemon circled a few times under the dock, it's cries wavering in strength. Perhaps it wasn't looking for a trainer. No one seemed to pay any more attention to it. Going about their business as the crowds thinned. It seemed as if the pokemon wanted attention but also wanted to stay hidden. Perhaps it was injured or ill. Skylar Vale

Oh boy, boy, [attr="class","skylar"] Skylar looked around in awe at all the sights of the docks here in Koshin. Everything was so much different than the industrialized nature of Castelia's docks. And while Accumula was close enough to the water to head down to the beach during the summers, it wasn't on the water, so it didn't have docks of course. This meant everything was pretty new to her. The sounds were more similar, but even they had their own unique flair.
It would be Rain who noticed one sound in particular sticking out. It sounded... sad, maybe even hurt? Mentally or physically she couldn't tell. But the Vaporeon pawed at her trainer and whined. "Huh? What's up Rain?" The Vaporeon gestured that way before heading toward it, and Skylar followed without much question.
As they drew nearer, Skylar heard it, too. But where was it coming from? Finally, she spotted it: something just under the surface of the water. Oh yikes?? It must be loud under there to be so clear above the surface! Poor thing! But what kind of Pokemon was it? Skylar got down on her knees at the edge of the dock to get a closer look...

► The Pokemon lurking just below the surface continued to circle. Crying out for attention or help, stopping only when Skylar's got down to have a closer look. From the water, appeared a Seadra. The pokemon appeared relieved at the trainer's attention but equally as wary. She looked haggard as well, her fins lacking the shine of a healthy wild pokemon. It appeared as if the pokemon had been worrying herself to near exhaustion. The pokemon swam backward lightly, drawing the trainer's attention. She watched, eyes tracking both human and vaporeon before diving down. The seadra emerged a few meters away, looking back to the trainer. As if asking them to follow, the human crowd had thinned enough. Those that stayed either worked at the shipping dock. Humans were few and far between. This seemed to ease the wild pokemon's discomfort, as she bobbed up and down giving the same weak and pained cry for help. Skylar Vale

Oh boy, boy, [attr="class","skylar"] Skylar squinted a little harder, trying to make out the Pokemon's form. It wasn't huge, but it wasn't tiny either, and she could see protruding fins. Its body wasn't shaped like a typical fish, though, it was... oh! It was a Seadra! She managed to figure it out just before the Pokemon surfaced, making her feel a little silly for not just waiting, but oh well.
The Pokemon didn't look well, though... And it seemed to be asking for help? "Do you think it wants us to follow?" Skylar asked Rain for confirmation, and the Vaporeon nodded. As best she could tell, that seemed to be the case.
But Skylar still had both her bags with her from the boat... Hmm. Looking around, she spied a space between a large shipping crate and a wall, and went to stuff her luggage there to hide it. Hopefully she wouldn't be gone long and it would be safe there.
Once that was done, Skylar moved back to the edge of the water and told Rain, "Let's go," before slipping in. It was cold, and her clothes weren't going to like it, but she was a fully fledged Ranger now! It was her duty to help Pokemon in trouble. And her special fondness for Water-types made her all the more obligated. She began to swim after the Seadra, seeing where it would go.

► The pokemon paced, swimming back and forth in a figure eight like pattern. A sigh of relief seemed to escape her once she realized the human was indeed following her. Keeping her distance, Seadra swam further out. The water broke from it's usual lazy waves near the dock to be more pronounced wave motions of more open water. Seadra led the human and other water pokemon to a crudely made buoy. The floating hunk of metal and floation had no marks to signal who it belonged to. Querencia region buoys often having cherry blossoms or berries painted on the edges by school age children. The local buoys meant to help wayward travelers if they were lost at sea. This one was different. It marked the location of a trap. Seadra had arrived at the buoy just moments before the human. She swam around a few times before nudging the rope with her snout. The water remained clear enough, that seeing the 'bottom' was possible. Stuck at the floor of the ocean, just at the edge before it became true deep water. Appeared to be a horsea, stuck in some sort of illegal cage. The un-evolved pokemon appeared even more exhausted then the Seadra. Likely trying to escape longer than the Seadra was looking for help. Seadra gave another pitiful cry, this one heart-shattering, her snout continuing to nudge at the rope connecting trap and buoy. Skylar Vale
